Original hand colored engraving of an African landscape by Johann Georg Heck, published in New York by R. Garrigue in the Iconographic Encyclopaedia of Science, Literature, and Art, 1852.
The detailed scene depicts a towering giraffe surrounded by antelope and other African wildlife, while a laden camel and figures travel through the foreground. Palm trees frame the landscape, with the Great Pyramids of Giza rising dramatically along the distant horizon.
In excellent condition. Custom framed with a double mat, an outer fabric mat, and a gold wood-beaded frame with UV-resistant glass. Dimensions: 15.75 × 17.75"
