On the botanical side, 12 watercolors celebrate beautiful, named roses, some of which are recognizable varieties, including the beloved Meilland. On the wildlife side, 12 scientific ornithological plates depict parrots, parakeets, and hummingbirds in the grand tradition of 19th-century natural history publications—illustrations of rare precision and elegance, reminiscent of the famous monographs of the era. The screen is antique, in beautiful condition, and made entirely of wood. It has four paneled sections. The designs are printed and applied motifs. The wooden frame is painted dark green and terracotta red, highlighted with gilding. The piece is heavy, stable, and unusual.
