A vintage 20th Century Chinese black-lacquer six-panel folding screen, hand-painted with a traditional garden courtyard scene. The lower register features six individual cartouches, each with a potted flower or bonsai arrangementy. Back side is black lacquer with incised floral designs painted in gold. Panels are joined with brass hinges and have brass-clad corner feet. A striking decorative piece well suited as a room divider, headboard backdrop, freestanding wall art or focal point in an eclectic or chinoiserie-inspired interior.
Retains original "Made In the Peoples Republic of China export label dating the piece to the 1970s-1980's.
