Offered is a diminutive vintage wood Kokeshi doll handcrafted and painted in Japan circa. 1970s.
This particular Kokeshi is a vintage Sosaku (creative) doll, specifically a design often attributed to artisan Tomio Ishida (frequently styled as "Hana-chan" or similar kimono-clad ribbon girl motifs) and bears the stamped seal on the bottom. Hand-turned and hand-painted from wood, it has a dark-stained bobbed hair, a distinct pink wooden hair ribbon, and a flared kimono body adorned with carved/painted floral or star-like blossom patterns.
Kokeshi dolls are traditionally cherished in Japan as symbols of well-wishing, health, and protective good luck.
