Offered is a pair of North African carved and painted wood spindle doll figurines. They are likely from Egypt, Tunisia, or Morocco and handcrafted in the 1970s as mementos or souvenirs for tourists meandering the stalls at flea markets.
Made from the spindles used for the wool yarns employed for weaving rugs and textiles, these are painted in red and black with bands of green and blue stripes.
The male measures 8" tall, 1.25" wide, and the female measures 7.75" tall, 1.25" wide.
