A striking pair of original 18th-century copper engravings depicting Starfish and Sea Urchins, published in Paris in 1791 and attributed to the celebrated French naturalist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, from Histoire Naturelle. The plates illustrate an array of starfish, brittle stars, sea urchins, and other echinoderms, rendered with remarkable scientific detail and beautifully colored.
Published during the golden age of European natural-history illustration, these engravings combine early scientific study with exceptional decorative appeal.
Custom framed in a double mat and light neutral textured wood frame with UV-resistant glass. In great condition; some plate marks are visible and a light fold mark, newly framed.
