Gilt and inlaid mother-of-pearl decoration around the arms, legs and crest.
Victorian Gothic revival with Rococo influenced curved arms and cabriole legs.
Molded papier-mâché armchair circa 1860-1880
Upholstered in a later velvet or velveteen rose color. It originally had an ivory colored silk covering. It still has wood and horsehair base for cushion. It was made before stuffing foam existed. Cushion is quite hard but you can replace. Cushion is not attached to the chair.
It is very sturdy and comfortable. Small Casters on feet
It is in very good condition . Photos show minor age cracks which are consistent with age and use.
It will probably last another 150 years.
It is just a beautiful piece of history
