Executed in hand-glazed terracotta (maiolica earthenware), the sculpture reflects the decorative animal figures exported from Italy during the Mid-Century Modern period. The glossy cream glaze, hand-shaded brown points, and expressive modeling create a lifelike interpretation of the Siamese breed while exemplifying the craftsmanship associated with Italian decorative ceramics of the era.

Authentication is supported by the impressed "ITALY" country-of-origin mark, red terracotta clay body, high-gloss hand-applied glaze, hand-shaded Siamese point coloration, molded reclining cat form, hollow body construction, and unglazed foot exposing the natural clay. Minor glaze flow over the impressed mark is consistent with factory production. While the factory remains unidentified, the construction and finishing are characteristic of Italian export workshops operating in Tuscany and the Veneto during the 1960s and 1970s.

Italian ceramic Siamese cat sculptures remain popular with collectors of Mid-Century Modern interiors, Hollywood Regency décor, vintage Italian pottery, and feline decorative arts.
