This Florentine wall mirror was handcrafted in Italy and dates to approximately the mid-20th century. The slender giltwood frame features an elegant arched crest, scrolling details and a beautifully modeled shell-form flourish at the base.
The hand-applied gilt finish has mellowed wonderfully with age, revealing touches of the traditional warm red bole beneath and creating the rich, timeworn patina so desirable in vintage Italian giltwood. The original mirror glass shows subtle age-related silvering and foxing, adding further character and authenticity.
The back retains its original “Made in Italy” label and an aged velvet-covered backing.
At just 15.5 inches tall, this is a wonderful jewel-like accent mirror—perfect for a powder room, gallery wall, dressing area, or layered among artwork and collected objects. Its sculptural form works beautifully in traditional, Italianate, Rococo, Hollywood Regency, and eclectic interiors
