A handsome late-19th-century wall mirror featuring a substantial figured/flamed mahogany veneer frame with deep ogee molding and warm reddish-brown finish. The frame appears to predate the mirror plate itself; the glass is identified as Semon Bache & Co. “Evalast” mirror glass dating to 1946, indicating the original glass was likely replaced during the first half of the 20th century. The combination of an antique frame, pronounced mahogany figuring, and documented period replacement glass gives the piece considerable decorative and historical character.

Surface shows scratches, scuffs, finish wear, small abrasions, and localized losses consistent with prolonged use. Noticeable scratch/gouge and finish loss near the upper-left corner. Additional scattered marks and wear are present along the upper and side moldings. Some finish checking/crazing and minor separation at molding joints are visible. Mirror glass exhibits scattered areas of silvering deterioration/desilvering, including several noticeable clustered spots. Rear backing and remnants of old backing material show substantial age and deterioration. Hanging wire is present. 1946 Semon Bache glass is a later replacement and is not original to the presumed late-19th-century frame. Please review photographs closely, as the visible age and wear are part of the piece's antique character. less
