This gracious beauty is a sweetgrass cachepot basket handcrafted using traditional Gullah basket methods. The tradition of “sewing” sweetgrass baskets in the South Carolina Lowcountry has been going on for more than 300 years. Materials used to create these beauties include sweetgrass, bulrush, palmetto fronds and long leaf pine needles. Coiled bundles of fibrous sweetgrass are held in place by "sewing" through the grass with thin strands of saw palmetto fronds; tight spirals and loops create a basket’s strength and durability. With its rich naturally aged color palette of tan, ecru and almond, this beauty will “play well” with most any design style in today’s modern home. It measures 9½” x 9½” x 6½” W/D/H; interior 9” x 6” x 6” W/D/H (depth measurement taken from circular bottom); weight 12 oz. In excellent condition with age-appropriate wear. Unsigned. Photographed the vase in the round to show all sides and the nuances of the patterns and coloring throughout.

Perfectly suited to serve as an eye-catching cachepot basket on an entryway table, bookshelf or kitchen island or powder room countertop.
