Description

Impressive pair of large antique porcelain portrait urns/vases, each measuring approximately 19 inches tall. These highly decorative pieces feature deep burgundy grounds with elaborate white enamel decoration, green and gold medallions, hand-painted floral accents and classical profile portraits.

Each vase has an elegant baluster form with a tall flared neck and ornate applied openwork handles highlighted in gold. The classical portrait medallions appear to depict male and female figures, giving the pair a strong Neoclassical / Continental European appearance.

These are substantial statement pieces and would display beautifully in a traditional, Victorian, French or European-inspired interior.

Condition: The pair is being offered as-is with old damage and/or repairs.
Both have a chip along their rim edge with a crack extending and both have roughness along their bottom rim edge with chipping and overpainting. The gentleman has been broken into a few large pieces and reattached and the lady has reglued pieces to her upper potion
There is visible age-related wear, including losses and rubbing to the gilding and decoration, surface scratches and other imperfections.
A large and impressive pair that are mostly intact and are worthy of a good restoration. They look pretty nice from a little ways away
