This unique, one-of-a-kind treasure was created by my great, great grandmother in the 1880's-1890's in Tamaroa, Illinois. It's ornately embellished with many types of elaborate stitches, scenes from nature - butterflies, birds and flowers, and illustrations of children. All designed in embroidery, needlepoint, and painting on rich fabrics of silk and velvet. She was a true artist. As many as 1500 hours went into this quilt's creation.

This quilt is fragile - when I move it, I do not pull on the edges - I lift it from the center. It's too fragile to hang - it must be displayed flat or mounted to an archival linen board and tipped at an angle. It would be perfect to display on a guest bed that is rarely used. It's a work of art and of museum quality. It would be appropriate to exhibit it in a museum setting.
