triking large-scale French bisque porcelain sculpture depicting a graceful seated female muse holding a mandolin. The figure is richly detailed, from the flowing drapery and floral accents to the expressive facial features, instrument, and naturalistic tree-form base.
The sculpture is marked “D’après Madrassi,” indicating the design is after the work of French-Italian sculptor Luca Madrassi (1848–1919), and is impressed “France” on the underside. The composition reflects the romantic, classical influence associated with late-19th-century French decorative arts.
At approximately 22.5 inches tall and 11.5 inches wide, this substantial piece has wonderful presence and works beautifully as a statement sculpture on a console, pedestal, mantel, or in a collected traditional or European-inspired interior.
Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or missing elements observed.

The figure appears clean and well preserved with strong sculptural detail throughout. No obvious major cracks, large chips, or significant repairs are visible in the photographs. There is light age-related surface wear and minor discoloration/soiling consistent with age, particularly in recessed areas and around the base. The underside shows expected wear from display and handling. Delicate elements such as the fingers, instrument, drapery, and floral/foliate details appear largely intact. less
