An early 20th century Tobey Furniture (famous for their Arts & Crafts Furniture and partnerships with Gustov and L & JG Stickley) Gothic inspired two piece solid mahogany library bookcase bearing the copper and brass Tobey Hand Made Furniture medallion signifying their highest tier of production hand made by master cabinetmaker's in their Chicago workshop. The upper cabinet features diamond patterned leaded glass doors flanked by carved Gothic crocket motifs transitioning into organic, fluid tracery. The lower cabinet doors feature recessed Gothic pointed arch paneling echoing the design of Medieval cathedral doors. The piece rests on smoothly turned bun feet with inset brass casters. Three adjustable upper shelves and one lower shelf are included. Both sets of doors have the original locking mechanisms with the original key. The top and base connect via interlocking wooden dowels and receiver holes.
Circa 1900 - 1910, Chicago.
Overall Measurements: 42.25" wide x 18.75" deep x 75.5" high.
Base cabinet measures 29.5" high.
