While the paint is newer and professionally applied, it complements the age, rococo style and serpentine curves of this chest that dates back to the late 1700's. The layered black painted finish has been distressed, creating aged character while revealing the natural wood below. Each drawer had two brass pulls. Age related separation of drawer bottoms is typical in this age of chest; at some point in the past these were repaired and covered over with smooth strips of wood making these drawers even more functional.
This strong and elegant oak dresser has been restored and is ready for use. Drawer bottoms and sides were constructed in pine, typical of the craftsmanship of this era.
All scratches, cracks (top and sides), dings, and age-related separation (drawer bottoms and back) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this large chest of four drawers.
