18th century English burl yew wood tea caddy, c.1790
Made from rare highly figured burr yew wood veneer. Note the intricate swirl patterns in warm tones. Octagonal in shape with canted corners and edged in fruitwood banding. The interior has two lidded compartments for black and green tea. These lids look like later replacements. Original green fabric on the underside. In good antique condition with age and use wear. Recently waxed and polished.
