A striking Art Deco-style decorative box by Maitland-Smith, hand-crafted from tessellated pink marble in soft rose and cream tones over a wood substrate — a technique the maker is renowned for. The dramatic domed "treasure chest" lid and rectangular base are wrapped in a continuous radiating brass inlay, fanning outward in a bold sunburst motif that flows seamlessly from the curved top down across the front and side panels, delivering a graphic, geometric Art Deco effect. The piece rests on squared block feet clad to match the tessellated marble body, and the hinged lid opens to reveal a fully finished interior, ideal for jewelry or keepsakes.
Combining postmodern craftsmanship with classic Art Deco styling, this box is equally suited as a decorative object or functional storage piece — a versatile statement for a console, vanity, or coffee table.
