Pair of French Louis XVI-Style Carved Oak Side Chairs
A refined pair of side chairs rendered in the classic Louis XVI idiom, hand-carved from solid oak with a rich, time-worn patina. Each chair features an oval "cameo-back" medallion framed by delicately pierced ribbon-and-swag carving, opening into an airy fretwork lattice below — a signature of the neoclassical style. The straight, fluted, tapering legs and turned feet reflect the period's departure from Rococo curves toward classical restraint and symmetry, accented throughout with carved rosettes and beading.
Upholstered in a coordinating cream fabric with a subtle blue and gold floral motif, the seats and backs are in good vintage condition with only light wear consistent with age.
