An exceptional, museum-quality, postmodern murano glass centerpiece, masterfully crafted during the transition period between the late 1980s and early 1990s. This monumental work is the result of an extraordinary effort by the l.a.g. (laboratorio artigiano vetro) glassworks.
technique & design
this massive centerpiece features a complex "incamiciato" (cased) mouth-blown technique, layering a vivid, high-saturation acid neon orange glass over a brilliant "lattimo" milk-white interior. The exterior surface is entirely finished with a flawless, velvet-like acid-etched satin treatment. Despite its impressive scale and substantial weight, the master glazier achieved an incredibly elegant and precise ultra-thin wall thickness of just 3 mm, allowing light to beautifully permeate the cased layers. The base features a perfectly ground and polished pontil mark.
condition and provenance
the bowl is in excellent vintage condition, perfectly preserved with no chips, cracks, or small imperfections on the delicate satin finish. It has only slight, almost imperceptible micro-scratches on the lower base, consistent with light wear due to storage and age.it retains its historic double authentication markings:
the official "vetri murano" consortium decal with the furnace code 04 (l.a.g.) on the outer edge.
the hand-engraved/acid-stamped "riglass" signature on the base.
an antique paper inventory label (no. 15) on the bottom, indicating its past provenance from a curated private collection or art gallery.
