Executed in richly grained wood and retaining its original patina throughout, the piece speaks eloquently to its age — each nuance of surface and tone the result of two centuries of careful preservation rather than restoration. Its compact yet commanding proportions are animated by the boldly sculptural ornament, carved moldings, and architectural sensibility that define the Neo-Baroque idiom at its most assured. Ideal for a library, study, or intimate salon where a single object of genuine provenance and decorative authority is called upon to anchor the room. See less
