Description:
Exceptional Large 19th-Century Mason’s Patent Ironstone China Chinoiserie Vase
A magnificent and unusually large 19th-century Mason’s England Patent Ironstone China vase, dating approximately to the 1830s–1840s. The vase is distinguished by its impressive six-sided (hexagonal) form, tall flared neck, substantial pedestal foot, and elaborate polychrome Chinoiserie decoration.
The surface is beautifully decorated with an intricate arrangement of scrolling foliage, flowers, birds, auspicious objects, and ornamental motifs, executed in rich shades of red, yellow, green, orange, cobalt blue, and black. The large central panels feature elegant arrangements of flowers and decorative objects surrounded by elaborate Chinoiserie borders.
The underside bears the distinctive Mason’s crown mark with “MASON’S / PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA.”
The combination of its exceptional 22-inch height, rare hexagonal form, elaborate decoration, and very good original condition makes this a particularly impressive example of Mason’s Ironstone and a striking decorative piece.
