The Herend "Déryné" (Mrs. Déry) porcelain figurine was designed and styled for the Herend Porcelain Manufactory by the renowned Hungarian sculptor Miklós Ligeti around 1930. It was inspired by Déryné Róza Széppataki (Mrs. Déry), a legendary 19th-century Hungarian opera singer and actress celebrated as the first leading lady of the Hungarian theater.

This piece depicts the actress in a frilled, ruffled blue gown holding a guitar (or mandolin). It is exceptional for its detailed form, and intricate, hand-painted details.

Measurements – Approximately 14" x 11” x 10"

Condition: This figure is in exceptional (near pristine) vintage condition. There are no chips cracks, or damage, and only minor signs of use at the bottom. “LIGETI” is inscribed on the base, and the piece is stamped on the underside with an early mid-century Herend mark (indicating that the piece was originally purchased in Hungary and not an export piece).
