The piece has an urn-like shape with a footed base, domed top and pointed finial, decorated throughout in classic delft blue with floral motifs and ornamental borders.

the base of the piggy bank carries the royal delft factory mark, the year code di and the inscription “1964–1989 ned. Ver. V. Spaarbankdirekteuren”, indicating that the piece was made as a commemorative object for the association of savings bank directors. Please note that this is a one-piece ceramic money box: the top is not removable and there is no stopper at the base, so money placed through the slot is not intended to be retrieved without opening the object.
