The design is framed by stylised laurel branches and a scroll banner inscribed “Nederland”, with a dark glazed outer border.

The tile is made in raised polychrome cloisonné relief, with a textured gilt finish to the lion and details in blue, green, red, white and dark grey. The piece is impressed with the De Porceleyne Fles factory mark. It is in good condition, with age-related surface patina, fine glaze crackle and a very small chip to one back corner. This piece has an attribution mark,
