This iconic piece … Read more Rare Mid-Century "Cymbal" series armchair designed by John Van Koert for the Troy Sunshade Company, circa 1958. This iconic piece blends Hollywood Regency glamour, Art Deco geometric flair, and Asian Modern Chinoiserie influences. Key design highlights include sweeping sculptural C-scroll arms, flared hind legs, and open-work interlocking ring corner spandrels under the seat apron. Constructed from heavy cast and extruded gold-anodized aluminum.

The metal framework is in sturdy condition, completely straight and free of cracks or structural repairs, featuring a character-rich vintage patina to the gold-toned finish.

Currently upholstered in a vintage burnt-orange velvet. The original internal cushion foam has aged and become dry/powdery over time, so the chair will require a foam replacement and reupholstery to be daily-use ready. The sound, uncompromised frame makes this an exceptional, high-value candidate for a custom designer upholstery project.

Works beautifully as a lounge-scale accent armchair, vanity seat, desk chair, or host dining chair.
