An exceptional 1920s Art Deco chandelier in nickel-plated solid brass or bronze. This exquisite piece was crafted by Cherrier et Besnus, a renowned Paris-based foundry specializing in bronze lighting fixtures. In 1926, E. Cherrier and M. Besnus acquired the company of Roger Massin, located at 36 rue Amelot. While Massin was known for Neo-Classical and Art Nouveau lighting, Cherrier et Besnus expanded the catalog by introducing high-quality Art Deco designs. Their fixtures are celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship, and the bronze elements are often stamped with the original foundry initials, "RM" (for Roger Massin).The chandelier features clear, frosted, molded-pressed glass shades produced by Verreries des Hanots—a prestigious brand under the Holophane glassworks, similar to Verlys. The three side shades are signed "Verreries des Hanots France". The large central bowl was also crafted by Hanots; however, like many of their designs, this specific model was always left unsigned.
The chandelier is in excellent condition. The mounting has been re-plated in nickel with a custom patina finish. All the shades are in very good condition. Glass made by Verreries des Hanots often shows minor irregularities, such as very thin hairline marks from the original manufacturing process.
The lamp has been rewired with standard American-base sockets. The chandelier has a drop of 35,43 inches (90 cm) and is about 28,35 inches (72 cm) wide.
