Hand-painted ceramic bud vase by Sicilian aristocrat turned artist, Giovanni De Simone. Petite size and charming abstract floral motif in De Simone's signature vibrant palette of yellow, purple, green, orange, brown and blue.
This piece's aesthetic was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso (whom De Simone greatly admired). It is an amalgam of Italian folk art (simplicity, inaccuracy and crudeness of subject) with modernism in the use of color and shape.
