These were published in Paris in the late 1800s in a series known as "L'Ornament Polychromes ( color ornaments) These visual plates of textiles and patterns were visual records of the decorative arts from 19th century Japan. They were highly successful documentation of the time. They showcase patterns of Japanese motifs that were introduced to the European market and were sought after by a new Parisian audience. Note the intricate detailing of the designs and zoom in to see the background intracacies as well. These design plates are in excellent, clean condtion. 11.5 x 16 inches in size. Borders are clean.
