Most strikingly, the portrait itself has been painted with such a beautiful touch, with particular attention to delicate skin tones, shadows and proportions. Her majestic hair, almost complementing and blending with the background clouds immediately draws one's attention to the centre. Her face is depicted with fantastic detail and care, light blue eyes with a natural gaze and a slight raise in the brows that convey subtle emotions and vitality. Apparent upon first glance, a rosy blush on either cheek, complementing her youth and vibrancy, yet it is perhaps the sensitive use of fine shadows around the corner of the lips, nose and eyes that offer an air of further sophistication and depth besides superficial beauty. The quality of the frame itself is equally impressive with a beautiful, understated plain mirror finish on the gold surface, aesthetically pleasing and unostentatiously supporting the centre portrait. Owing to its fairly large size, whilst it could be worn with a thick chain or necklace with the attached bail, it would also serve as a wonderful display piece, among other portraits or as a standalone piece to immediately elevate any setting. The frame is unmarked, as is common with articles of this period, and as such we have tested it, indicating 14ct gold. Overall, such an enchanting and lovely piece for any antique or painting lovers and a wonderful way to wear and express your passion for fine antiques. All of our jewellery comes with a complimentary hard shell gift box with a velvet interior. Size & Total Weight 8.5cm x 5.8cm 48g /1.54 troy oz Condition : good antique condition with no major issues/damage. Some minor surface wear commensurate with age and one surface chip/crack towards the top in the blue glass backing. The inner portrait is slightly smaller than the frame and whilst hardly noticeable, there is a very small gap depending on the angle and is mentioned for accuracy.
