It features a Breton playing a … Read more A rare Desvres French faience lidded jar in the style of Quimper Porquier Beau. It features a Breton playing a biniou (Breton form of bagpipes), blue and green decor riche borders, gold fleur de lys, ermine tails, and the Bretagne coat of arms. It is hard to discern the painted mark on the bottom, but is likely "Huelgoat", a town in Bretagne (Brittany).

In very good condition for faience of this age with no cracks, hairlines or chips. There are several glaze flecks (chips to the glaze only) around the lid rim and jar rim, some crazing, and glaze pinholes from production.
