Let's start with a little history! Incolay Studios, Inc. was a U.S.-based producer (founded in the early 1970s) best known for fine-crafted decorative items made from proprietary Incolay stone—a layered mineral-coupled medium referred to as “in-color-lay.” It allowed for highly detailed, cameo-like relief sculptures, typically in neutral stone hues. Pieces were made in the U.S., particularly in California. Pieces came in variations of these mineral colors, White, Grey, Beige, Green, Blue, Rose and Brown. Pieces are also dense and weighty. The top of the box is embellished with two pheasants with long plumage with an array of florals in a cameo design. Measurements are 14ʺW × 10ʺD × 3ʺH. The sides are adorned with trellis styling florals. Inside, there is orange velvet sections for jewel, watches, necklaces, etc. The piano hinge which is frequently missing from use, is still connected solidly. The original Incolay brand sticker is excellent condition. On first glance, many people confuse this as being marble. Just a lovely piece.
Cleaning tip: Never submerse in water. Light dusting with damp cloth. No chips, cracks or damage.
