A finely observed watercolor on paper depicting the interior of a cobbler's workshop: an old shoemaker at his bench working … Read more A finely observed watercolor on paper depicting the interior of a cobbler's workshop: an old shoemaker at his bench working a boot across his knee as a young boy sits opposite him beside a great brick hearth hung with pots, tools, and a lantern. Cut leather hides lie across the flagstone floor, and through a window at the left a further figure is glimpsed at work on a loom.

Signed "D'Artois" and dated 1902 at lower left. Presented in a giltwood frame with beaded and rope-twist molding and a brown mat. See less
