A pair of Chinese blue and white glazed stoneware jars, each with a domed lid surmounted by a seated Buddhist … Read more A pair of Chinese blue and white glazed stoneware jars, each with a domed lid surmounted by a seated Buddhist lion, or foo dog, finial and painted with cloud and lingzhi-fungus scrollwork. The neck of each jar carries a Greek-key (key-fret) meander band above four lion-mask lugs at the shoulder. The body of each jar is hand-painted in cobalt blue with qilin-style Buddhist lions, or foo dogs, playing with brocade balls amid stylized clouds. The footring is unglazed, exposing the grey stoneware body; the interior is glazed.

Dimensions: 18¾" height x 10½" diameter (each), sold as a pair

Condition: Good condition. Glaze throughout has scattered firing pits and specks, with imperfections and discoloration from the firing process. See less
