Late 18th century Danish secretary, crafted in oak with small interior drawers made of pine. A newer professionally applied black painted finish is lightly distressed throughout, revealing areas of natural wood below and adding depth appropriate to the age of the bureau.
The fall front opens onto two extending support arms to create a functional writing surface. The fitted interior is painted in a contrasting seafoam blue with specks of white undertone. Thirteen petite drawers and a central storage cubby provide organized interior storage.
A narrow drawer is positioned between the writing surface and the three large lower drawers. An old wood knot has fallen out toward the back of this narrow drawer, leaving a small hole. The three lower drawers have graceful Rococo curves that give the secretary a handsome and distinctive profile. The drawer bottoms may have been replaced at some point.
The keys do not operate the locks and are included for use as decorative pulls only. Age related separation is visible along the back and was papered over at some point in time. Additional cracks, nicks, separation, and other signs of age are present but do not affect the function or appeal of the secretary.
Restored, strong, stable, and ready to use. Built in two sections for easier transportation and installation.
