These striking … Read more An exceptional, rare pair of late 19th-century Chinese Qing Dynasty cloisonné (champlevé) enamel on copper pricket candle holders. These striking altar candlesticks feature a vibrant, highly sought-after imperial yellow ground, lavishly decorated with intricate scrolling lotus blossoms, tendrils, and auspicious stylized symbols. Designed with a traditional architectural silhouette, each holder boasts a flared top pricket cup resting on an elongated columnar stem, which flows seamlessly into a deep, wide central drip pan supported by a robust baluster-shaped plinth base.

The exterior surfaces are richly enameled with stylized auspicious characters nestled among dense floral foliage. The exceptionally vivid palette includes striking lapis blue, turquoise, deep iron red, and emerald green. The heavy copper bodies are beautifully finished with exposed, rolled copper rims that display a magnificent, authentic aged patina. The raw copper undersides reveal genuine historical manufacturing characteristics, showing natural concentric oxidation lines and minor verdigris consistent with 19th-century workshop production.

Excellent antique condition, showing beautiful age-appropriate wear and character. Minor, superficial enamel pitting, micro-craquelure, and scattered surface scuffs strictly consistent with age and authentic use. No significant structural damage, major enamel loss, or modern solder repairs. Copper rims and bases show an attractive, unpolished dark patina.
