Keith Haring ( 1958 - 1990 ) was an incredibly vibrant American artist and social activist who's artwork responded to the 1980's Street culture by expressing concepts of birth, death, sexuality, and war. Haring's work was often heavily political, his imagery became a widely recognized vivid and iconic visual language of The 20th Century. Haring's close friends and inspirational contemporaries included Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Madonna all of whom he collaborated with in his lifetime. Artworks by Haring are included the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The " Future Primeval " exhibition explored Haring's fascination with the origins of human expression - his belief that art, at its core, is a universal and timeless form of communication. In this exhibition, he drew parallels between prehistoric imagery and Contemporary Street culture, merging the Primitive and the Modern into a dynamic visual dialogue. Underscoring his engagement with universal symbols, social issues, and the human condition, the exhibit's themes provided a reflective look at how Haring's art used elemental forms and primal figures to tap into the collective human psyche, while also commenting on urgent social and political issues that were both accessible and profound.
