Antique Persian bowl. This Persian ware was heavily influenced by Chinese porcelain imported along the Silk Road trade routes.
Description:
Ca 1600's (17th Century) from the Safavid era. Kubachi pottery crafted from fritware (stonepaste) and finished with a clear glaze. Cobalt blue border with alternating floral motifs and crosshatched geometric pattern. This type of pottery typically displays a heavy craquelure network across the surface and noticeable glaze pooling in areas. Beautiful piece.
Condition:
No chips or cracks on this one. It is in excellent condition. Some minor pitting in the glaze (original from when fired). Measures approx 8.25" in diameter.
