Measuring approximately 8 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches high, this substantial dresser box features a removable domed lid decorated with a finely painted classical scene inspired by the work of renowned Swiss Neoclassical artist Angelica Kauffmann (1741–1807). The lid is artist signed (appears to read "M. McKay" or similar), while the underside bears the T&V Limoges France factory mark.

The richly marbled brown and blue ground, accented with gilt trim, is particularly striking and far less common than the floral decorations typically found on Limoges vanity boxes. Its generous size and elegant form make it equally suitable as a decorative object, jewelry casket, or dresser box.

I have been unable to locate another example with this combination of size, form, and decoration, making it an especially distinctive example of antique French porcelain. See less
