Rich with Edwardian character and gentlemanly charm, this antique humidor trophy is a wonderfully unusual piece that beautifully blends decorative artistry with sporting history. Crafted in the early 20th century, the form resembles a ceremonial presentation trophy or lidded urn, executed in warm-toned metal with contrasting darker mounts and ring handles that give the piece a bold, architectural silhouette.
Engraved to the front: “A.G.C. Tournament 7-4-06 Won By Malcolm Kemper” , the humidor carries the distinguished presence of an early sporting presentation piece, evoking the atmosphere of Edwardian clubs, tournaments, smoking rooms, and gentleman’s society culture. The proportions are especially striking, with the domed lid and oversized finial lending the piece a stately trophy-like appearance. Twin hanging ring handles flank the body, adding visual balance and a touch of classical influence, while the beautifully aged surface displays a rich antique patina developed over more than a century. Subtle wear, tonal variation, and time-softened finishes enhance the authenticity and historic appeal of the piece.
Measuring approximately 7.75 inches high, 4.75 inches deep, and 4.75 inches wide, and weighing just under 2 pounds, this antique tournament humidor offers a compact yet substantial presence that is ideal for shelf, desk, or tabletop display. Good antique condition, there are numerous indents to the metal and age-related color variation. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
Both decorative and functional, the humidor makes an exceptional display object for a traditional study, library, cigar room, or English country house interior. Its sculptural presence pairs beautifully with antique books, barware, tobacco accessories, or sporting memorabilia.
A rare and highly atmospheric Edwardian piece with timeless masculine appeal.
