A rare set of ten late 19th-century Austrian Thonet Wien Model No. 32 dining chairs, recently sourced from Lyon, France. Renowned for their pioneering bentwood craftsmanship, these elegant chairs embody the refined simplicity and enduring quality that established Thonet as one of Europe's most influential furniture makers. Crafted from bent beechwood, each chair features the iconic rounded rectangular caned back, handwoven cane seat, turned front legs, and gracefully curved H-stretcher characteristic of Model No. 32. Original Thonet Wien labels remain present beneath the seats. The chairs retain their original cane seats and backs and are accompanied by a complete set of custom removable embroidered seat cushions. Upholstered in natural linen, each cushion features an individually colored floral needlepoint floral motif, offering a distinctive decorative layer while preserving the original cane beneath. The cushions can be removed at any time, allowing the chairs to be displayed in their original form. Professionally restored, the frames are structurally sound, solid, and ready for everyday use. The beechwood has been cleaned and finished with wax while preserving its warm patina and age-appropriate character. The original cane remains in very good condition throughout. A rare and increasingly difficult-to-find set of ten, these chairs are equally suited for a large dining room, hospitality setting, or interior design project where authentic late 19th-century European craftsmanship is desired.
