A rare antique French faience Porquier-Beau footed compote with a bowl shaped liked a swan body and a handle shaped … Read more A rare antique French faience Porquier-Beau footed compote with a bowl shaped liked a swan body and a handle shaped like a graceful arching swan neck and head. The bowl and foot are handpainted with colorful garlands in the Nevers-style, the Quimper coat of arms, a Breton resting with a scythe in a field, and a Bretonne with basket of fruit. Marked on the bottom with the overlapping PB mark of the Porquier Beau factory. Circa 1875-1905. This piece is pictured on pg 80 of the Faience De Quimper Porquier-Beau catalog from the 1998-99 Exposition at the Chateau de Quintin.

In very good condition with several minor glaze chips and some areas of glaze crawling from the production process. See photos.
