This is a magnificent, authentic Erté (Romain de Tirtoff) "Fruit of Life" patinated bronze bowl, cast in 1985. This stunning Art Deco-style masterpiece features two beautifully stylized female faces in relief, with a striking flared bowl with an intricate geometric border. This specific piece is an unnumbered artist proof from the historic 1980s lifetime casting run. While the standard edition was limited to 275, a select few unnumbered proofs were cast by the foundry for production or archival purposes. It possesses a beautiful, rich original patina.

The piece features the incised CON KER Foundry marking, Erte signature, and 1985 date stamped directly into the bronze.

The piece has internal locating pins under the interior rim used in the original casting process. It also does not have a rotating base or evidence it was produced with one. Because it does not have a base, it does not sit completely upright and tilts to one side. See side photos. Sauter marks present inside bowl. Patina consistent with age.
