Measuring 78 cm high, 80 cm long, and 50 cm deep, it has an elegant and refined silhouette, with a rectangular top featuring clean, precise lines, in keeping with the sober, geometric style of the era.
the legs are tall and slender, decorated with fine, precise fillets both at the top and at the bottom, just a few centimeters from the floor. These decorative details demonstrate the attention to craftsmanship and hoffmann's typical minimalist ornamental taste.
the mahogany, with its warm, deep color, adds a sense of luxury and durability.
underneath the top, you can see the original label certifying the work of j & j kohn and a hand-crafted engraving.
jacob & josef kohn, also known as j. & j. Kohn, were austrian furniture makers and interior designers based in vienna.
jacob kohn (1791–1866), along with his son josef kohn (1814–1884), founded the company in 1849. Kohn would later become one of the leading furniture manufacturers in the austro-hungarian empire, emerging as a major competitor to gebrüder thonet. Kohn collaborated with artists from the wiener werkstätte and with josef hoffmann on the design of many pieces. This piece has an attribution mark,
