Early 20th century Chinese wood and red Cinnabar lacquer chest with heavily carved dragon motif.
The front, side, and lid panels are relief-carved with five-clawed imperial dragons weaving through dense scrolling clouds, symbolizing power, authority, and good fortune. Upper rim showing a carved lotus flower and scroll design and each corner of the lid showing carved phoenix birds.
Brass lock plate for secure closure. Hinged lid opens to a removable open space tray, pull the tray out to reveal large spacious compartment. Brass loop handles at each side.
Measures 15" x 10" x 11 1/2" tall.
Excellent condition.
