This … Read more This lovely box touched us deeply because it speaks to the gentle craftsmanship of patient and meticulous mountain artisans. This generously sized, round, hand-carved wooden box captivates with the unique texture of its surface, entirely worked with small, irregular facets, as if each one had been individually cut, evoking hammered wood or raw stone, and giving the piece a profoundly artisanal and vibrant character. The slightly rounded lid features a small miniature painting in its center depicting an Alpine village under snow. This painting is signed "Arti," attesting to the particular care taken in the piece's decoration. We envision this box as a jewelry box or a decorative piece in a Brutalist chalet setting.

The box is in good condition; it is antique. The paint on the lid is cracked and flaking in places, revealing the bare wood, and there are a few cracks running through the body of the box.
