A rare and strikingly attractive oversize wicker basket armchair in lovely vintage condition. Crafted in the style of Japanese Modernist designer Isamu Kenmochi, likely in Italy in the 1970s, this super-comfortable and shapely woven wicker pod armchair makes a standout statement piece and will enhance any interior with lovely light blonde colouring and its refined and effortlessly stylish Coastal-Boho, Sculptural-Organic aesthetic.
Hand-crafted by weaving wicker around a metal frame, this extra-large beauty is very sturdy and evokes timeless splendour with its stunningly streamlined sculptural curves, which alter almost like an optical illusion, depending on the angle viewed. from the front and above only the wonderfully donut-like curves are seen, but when viewed from behind and the side, the streamlined profile and the bulbous wraparound arms, which seem to sprout from the muffin-like base can really be appreciated. This wonderful chair is a hugely interesting sculptural piece, to be admired and enjoyed from every angle.
All in all this is a remarkably eye-catching and super-comfortable armchair, which would look fabulous in a studio, lounge, bedroom or conservatory space, or even in an outdoor setting. Wherever it’s placed, it will add lovely blonde colouring and a relaxed and super-stylish, genre-blurring aesthetic. Photographed here with a Danish nest of tables.
