Offered is a beautiful circa 1930s Chinese Republic Period hand-painted blue and white porcelain powder box featuring finely executed traditional mountain and riverscape scenes. The lid and base are decorated with detailed landscapes, figures, pavilions, and boats rendered in rich cobalt blue under a glossy glaze.
The base bears a Yongzheng six-character reign mark. As is common with many Republic Period porcelains, this mark is an apocryphal (honorific) reign mark and indicates the style rather than the actual Yongzheng period of manufacture.
The box is finely potted with crisp hand-painted decoration extending around the sides, making it an attractive example of Republic-era export and decorative porcelain.
