Antique Persian Quajar micro mosaic inlaid box, c.1800
Called “Khatam Kari”, these wooden boxes were intricately inlaid with marquetry mosaic decoration and geometric patterns. Inlaid with wood, brass, and bone. They were used as jewelry or trinket boxes. The interior has a felt lining with hand painted purple and gold paper to the lid and sides. This is a large example in good condition with intact inlay. Some old restoration in places. Recently waxed and polished.
