Antique Anglo Indian slide top porcupine quill and ebony box, c.1900
I call these pencil boxes because they remind me of the ones l had in school, with sliding tops. Made in Ceylon, Now Sri Lanka, of naturally shed quills and locally found ebony. Good original condition with all quills and dots intact. Recently waxed and polished.
